Green Homes

Chatham County is committed to green building and sustainable technologies:

  • The new Chatham Community Library, currently under construction and scheduled for completion by August 2010, will be LEED Gold certified. Ongoing updates about progress on the new library can be found here.
  • Chatham County has created a Green Building Task Force to advise the county on green building strategies for all Chatham County public buildings, as well as providing input on green building specifications and opportunities for residential buildings.
  • Central Carolina Community College has made a commitment to be “a leader in sustainable technologies,” offering programs in green building, biofuels, sustainable agriculture, ecotourism, and a natural chef culinary program. For more information, see http://www.cccc.edu/green.
